All my natural materials have been gathered while on my "walk abouts".
I started doing these intentional meditative healing walks in nature in 2020 as a way of dealing with stress and to heal myself . I have dealt with chronic illness since a child and I have always been determined that the body can heal itself given the right care and environment.
So I embarked on the healing journey with mother nature. I would come back with bags or pocketfuls of "earthly treasures ". Then think what can I create with mother natures art supplies ?. I created bioplastics coffee kelp clay , leaf paper and just played with the natural materials to see what I could come up with next .
One thing led to other I found healing not only in nature but also through creative expression of her raw natural beauty 🌿
I love creating these offering bowls, I feel so connected to the earth, the ancient ceremonies and symbolism of the bowls as I make them.
Bowls have been used in history with rich symbolism , not just the carrier of medicines , foods and little gratitude/ honoring offerings to the spirits and ancestors that walked on this land before us . It is a reminder that we have to be mindful for what we leave our future generations.
These take many hours of prepping and work to make . I really enjoy the fact that it can't not be mechanically recreated and they offer a time of mediation while creating them .
Each one has is own little story that I went through while creating them .
I've sourced river stones , branches , grasses and ocean treasures from the coast of Vancouver Island all the way to the great white northern BC.
This summer I embarked on a life changing road trip and gathered materials to work on throughout the colder winter months .
